The Weather Has Changed. Has Your Sprinkler Schedule?

Your sprinkler system worked hard to keep your lawn and landscape watered through the summer heat. But the schedule that worked during long, hot days may not be right for fall.

Cooler temperatures, shorter days, and changing rainfall can reduce how quickly moisture leaves your property. If your controller is still following its summer schedule, your lawn may be receiving water more often or for longer than it needs.

The controller is only part of the system. A damaged head, clogged nozzle, hidden leak, pressure problem, or poorly covered area can waste water every time the irrigation runs.

Some problems create obvious puddles or spraying water. Others quietly increase water use or leave parts of the lawn too wet while nearby areas remain dry.

A seasonal irrigation check helps identify those problems and adjust your system for the conditions your property is experiencing now.

Inspect It. Adjust It. Make Every Drop Count.

✅ Seasonal watering schedule updates. We’ll review your controller settings and make appropriate adjustments for cooler temperatures, shorter days, and changing seasonal conditions.

✅ Sprinkler head inspections. We’ll check for damaged, tilted, buried, clogged, or improperly operating sprinkler heads that may affect how your property is watered.

✅ Individual zone inspections. Each accessible zone can be operated and observed so we can identify performance problems that may not be noticeable from the controller.

✅ Leak and damage detection. We’ll look for visible signs of leaks, broken components, pooling water, and other damage affecting system performance.

✅ Coverage and pressure checks. We’ll evaluate whether water is reaching the intended areas and identify signs of poor pressure, overspray, blocked spray patterns, or uneven coverage.

✅ Irrigation adjustments and repairs. When problems are found, we can discuss and complete the necessary adjustments or repairs according to the approved scope of work.

The exact service will depend on your system and the issues we find. We’ll explain any recommended repairs or adjustments before completing work beyond the agreed-upon inspection.

Don’t Keep Watering Like It’s Still Summer

An outdated irrigation schedule can continue running for weeks or months without attracting much attention. The sprinklers come on automatically, the lawn gets wet, and everything appears to be working.

But “running” does not always mean “running efficiently.”

A summer schedule left unchanged in cooler weather may contribute to:

  • More watering than the property currently needs
  • Unnecessary water use and higher water bills
  • Soggy areas or standing water
  • Increased moisture around landscape plants
  • Runoff onto sidewalks, driveways, and streets
  • Watering during or shortly after rainfall
  • Lawn and landscape areas receiving uneven coverage

The goal is not simply to run your sprinkler system less. It is to help the system deliver the appropriate amount of water to the right areas under current conditions.

A seasonal check gives you a clearer picture of how the entire system is operating before inefficient watering continues further into fall.

❓FAQ Section

Q: What is included in a fall irrigation check?
A: The service includes checking your controller settings, running accessible irrigation zones, inspecting sprinkler heads, looking for visible leaks or damage, and evaluating coverage and pressure. The exact scope will be confirmed when your visit is scheduled.

Q: Why should I change my sprinkler schedule in the fall?
A: Cooler temperatures, shorter days, and changing rainfall can reduce how quickly moisture leaves your lawn and landscape. A summer schedule may water more frequently or longer than your property currently needs.

Q: How often should I water my lawn during fall?
A: There is no single schedule that works for every property. The right frequency depends on your grass type, soil, sunlight, rainfall, irrigation coverage, and current weather. We’ll consider your property and seasonal conditions when reviewing the schedule.

Q: Can you adjust my irrigation controller for me?
A: Yes. We can review the current settings and make appropriate seasonal adjustments. If your controller is malfunctioning or needs replacement, we’ll discuss the available options with you.

Q: Can you find an underground irrigation leak?
A: We can look for system behavior and visible property conditions that indicate a possible leak. Some hidden leaks may require additional troubleshooting or specialized repair work before their exact location can be confirmed.

Q: Can you repair broken sprinkler heads during the visit?
A: In many cases, yes. The repair will depend on the type of damage, the parts required, and the agreed-upon scope. We’ll explain the recommended work and any additional cost before proceeding.

Q: Do I need to be home for the irrigation visit?
A: That depends on system access and the location of the controller. If the controller is inside a garage or another locked area, someone may need to be present. Our team will confirm access requirements when scheduling.

Q: How much does an irrigation inspection or repair cost?
A: Pricing depends on the scope of the inspection, the problems discovered, the parts required, and the repairs you approve. We’ll explain applicable charges before completing additional work.

Q: Do you serve my area?
A: We provide irrigation services in Wilmington, Leland, Hampstead, and surrounding communities. Submit the form with your address, and we’ll confirm whether your property is within our service area.
