If the conditions are right (moist conditions), it may hang on a bit longer. Ticks feed on both animals and people and they can be carried into your home with your pets
Contrastingly, the flea has a much shorter life cycle. Unlike the tick, this bug goes from an egg to a larva to a pupa and then an adult in between two weeks and several months, depending on conditions.
Like ticks, fleas need to feed on blood to survive and will be dead in as little as a week without any. They typically live between two and three months. Most fleas prefer animal hosts over human, however, biting human hosts are not unheard of.
